Come Inside my Colorado Horse Stables
Today let’s look around my plans for Colorado horse stables. It’s a work in progress. I need more storage spaces. I’ve planned two horse stalls and a tack room and supply area. But I would really like to put in a wash bay. Instead, the feed and hay storage must go into that space.
We do have 5 acres. Even so, my horses need grass and running areas for times when I’m out of town. Although a horse trail passes close by, the horses may not head out alone. I hear stories of wild horses in Colorado.
Interior Horse Barn Space
Thankfully, if I raise the roof I could have it all. With a bit of creativity, I could fit everything into my horse stables. Adding a second story hayloft or a partial mezzanine might be the answer. I get more space and still stay within the footprint required by covenants in my rural subdivision.
2-Stall Residential Horse Stables
Back at the stable. I’ve selected beautiful custom Lester stalls for the interior. Their tried-and-true durability captured my vote. Smooth, strong, and good looking, these Lester stalls will be around for decades. The horses will get access to the pasture and to the barn’s interior.
Also, I am contemplating lining my barn so I can hose it down and keep it cleaner. That brings me back to the wash bay. I do want it. My horses will become familiar with that area for all their brushing and grooming. This is where they will get lots of attention and feel loved. So, I think I will need to add that second story to my little horse barn.
2-Stall Horse Stables
What do you want in a 2-stall horse barn? Have you gone through these same discussions with yourself when thinking about building small horse barns on your existing Colorado property? Do you want more in custom horse stables?
You may want extra square footage to park an RV or pickup truck. I suggest you speak with Allen Randa at Sapphire Construction in Castle Rock. His professional designers can give you some ideas. Why not create flexible space in an outbuilding? I’d love to have a few more square feet myself to keep my lawn mower and add a greenhouse to best accommodate changing and seasonal weather in Colorado.
