Confident Larkspur Horse Property – Breezeway to Barn & Indoor Arena
Look closely at this good-looking ranch in Larkspur, Colorado. A new indoor arena and breezeway built by Sapphire Construction brings it up a notch. We took an existing barn and built a big beautiful arena with waterless and dustless footing. Then our designers added a breezeway to connect the two structures. In addition, the design includes a new outdoor riding arena with the same footing.
Style and Color
Note the seamless color palette on this ranch. The equestrian facilities blend with the style of the main house. Although the arena is large, the build site sets it away from the home. The muted sage green color is offset by the navy wainscoting and the green meadows. The outdoor arena covers the next field, adding another nice touch to the postcard perfect setting.
Details of New Indoor Arena in Larkspur
The new Colorado pole building indoor arena measures 69 feet by 136 feet by 14 feet. An enclosed porch overhand accommodates horse trailers.
- To ensure healthy air quality, high grade WMP-UR-R, 2″ R-6 insulation lines the ceiling. Quality insulation will help provide comfortable indoor space during any events and for the entire Colorado weather season.
- An OSB riding wall lines the interior of the arena. The riding wall provides superior strength. Its waterproofing qualities holds up better in humid conditions.
- Another design feature purposefully enhances the air flow: bale doors. We installed seven 4-foot by 4-foot bale doors throughout.
- Lighting has also been addressed. First, light enters through the bale doors. But there are also two split sliding doors with windows on top. These bring in the natural light.
- Cupolas provide another air duct and great exterior style as they move with the prevailing winds outside.

When designing equestrian facilities, health and safety are our priorities. We strive for good air quality and effective lighting. When dealing with horses and other animals, insulation and vapor barriers, doors, and window placement–as well as necessary electricity and water sources are important.
