NFBA Building of the Year Award to Sapphire Construction

Sapphire Construction is proud to accept a prestigious Building of the Year award from the National Frame Building Association (NFBA). During their 2024 Annual Frame Building Expo, our auto shop in Parker, CO took First Place in the Hobby Building category of the Expert division. We thank the NFBA, Lester Buildings, the owners who contracted with us for this fine hobby building, and our professional teams.

Award-Winning Hobby Shop

Sheffield Auto Garage, a meticulously designed hobby building, features 11,200 square feet in its user-friendly layout. The auto shop comes with an interior mezzanine, auto lifts, and bright lights. The car gets the ultimate experience: getting together at the attached speakeasy-style whiskey bar.

NFBA Definition of a Post Frame Building

Defined by its wide column spacing with rafters and/or trusses to create distinct “post frames,” a post frame building serves many needs. Columns may or may not be ground embedded. This excludes mortise and tendon connections as seen in timber frame construction.

Judging Criteria for NFBA Building of the Year

To determine winners, three judges study all aspects of each project. They examine how buildings will be used. They look for unique features, post-frame advantages, innovation, creative use of materials, and special finishes and lighting.

Is the design sound, including the layout and floor plan? The exterior and interior get the eagle eye. Is it attractive from the front? How’s the landscaping? And, of course, do the buildings have stories. As you see, these projects get the eagle eye.

The 24 Award Categories

Thinking of contracting for a post frame building? There must be a good category for your building. Smaller or Expert companies like Sapphire Construction, Inc. and larger Master companies can submit entries in 12 categories, including:

In addition to awarding plaques, the NFBA will feature honored companies in publications, communications, and on their website. The organization encourages builders to excel, to surpass customer expectations. Standards include on-site excellence and outstanding customer service.
