Personalized Tack Rooms to Fit the Scope of Every Equestrian Facility
Personalized tack rooms can turn your equestrian facility into a well-organized operation. Tack rooms keep the stables prepared. Saddles, bridles, blankets, and other horse equipment will be handy and ready for action.
Sapphire Construction, Inc. has helped design equestrian facilities of all sizes. If you choose to order one of our barn kits, we will get the big picture of your goals. Then our architects will work with you to figure out how to best integrate this necessary storage space into your pole barn design. Some of our clients take the tack room a step further. Their tack rooms are perfect for social events.
Importance of Tack Rooms
Two years ago, master carpenter Allen Randa of Sapphire Construction, explains the ingredients for a good, well-organized tack room. For the design process, start with the best location, determine the size, and personalize that the décor.
- Location: find a convenient location to avoid extra steps. Think about somewhere close to the wash stall and/or grooming area. In addition, if the horse travels often, how about near the loading bay?
- Size & Number: Larger equestrian facilities may need more than one tack room just as an exceedingly small horse barns could get by with a much smaller area. Horse boarding facilities often prefer lockers. Oversized tack rooms may include seating and gathering places.
- Décor: Personalizing the tack room with special tiles, paneling or woodwork, artwork and displays adds interest. Some of our lifetime equestrian buffs go all out! But it is still possible to do something unique in a small room with a tight budget.
5 Key Elements for Tack Room Design
- Be sure to include ample room for saddles. They can be perched on small cabinets or lined up on a wall or on saddle hooks.
- Bridles, bits, and lead ropes need to be hung on peg boards or other hooks.
- Blankets and saddle pads require periodic cleaning and could be stored on shelves, racks, or in bins.
- Lighting and air quality are important.
- Horse groomers also appreciate counters, cabinets, benches and chairs, plus a refrigerator in the sink.
